Mass of Christian Burial for Alfred "Bud" Fisher age 91 of Valentine will be held on Thursday, May 18 at 11:00 AM at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Valentine. Burial will be at a later date. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 17 at 7:00 PM at the Church. Visitation will be on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines. Mr. Fisher passed away on May 11 at Pine View Good Samaritan Center in Valentine
Alfred Dewayne (Bud) Fisher was born on June 2, 1925 in Brown County Hospital to Edmund G. and Vera (Piersall) Fisher. He passed away on May 11, 2017 at 91 years old.
He grew up on the Fisher family ranch at Norden, Nebraska that was homesteaded by his grandfather in 1883 and lived most of his life there until retiring and moving to Valentine, NE in September 2002. Bud attended Norden School from 1st grade through his sophomore year. He graduated in 1943 from Keya Paha County High School in Springview.
Bud married Elsie Zirnig on June 7, 1975 and to this union was born one son, David.
Bud was very active in the community he started serving on the Keya Paha Fair Board in 1949 and was on the board for 52 years. He served on the Norden School Board for many years. Bud was a Director of the KBR Rural Public Power District for 15 years.
Bud loved raising cattle and took good care of all his animals. He and Elsie did custom planting and haying for many years.
Bud was preceded in death by His parents, Edmund and Vera Fisher, his sister Kathryn and her husband John Ross and his infant brother Edmund. Surviving him is his wife Elsie, his son David, 4 grandchildren Brittani Fisher and fiancé Andres Hilario, Darren Fisher and his wife Jordan, Abigail Fisher and her fiancé Ricky Jackson and Eboni Fisher, 4 great grandchildren, Mariah Hilario, Ashelynne, Ambrielle and Avangeline Fisher. Also surviving are nephews Dan, Mike (Trish) and Bruce (Deborah) Ross and their families, Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law and their families. And last but not least his cat Tiger.
