Cindy Lee Peacock
07/14/51- 07/04/18
Age 66
On the 14 th of July in the year 1951 Everett and Aurelian Green were blessed with the birth of a daughter whom they named Cindy Lee. The place was Valentine, Nebraska. Cindy would join her brother, Bernie in the Green family. The Green family would later be completed with the births of Tony, Cherry, and Vicky.
Cindy attended rural schools in the White River South Dakota area. While she grew up on the Green Valley Ranch, she liked to help mom in the kitchen. Cindy excelled as a student…. she not only enjoyed school, but also loved being with her friends. Her best friend growing up would be her brother Bernie. He took care of his little sister, but occasionally exposed her to challenges.
Cindy graduated rural school and began high school in White River. There, in spite of being a country school girl, she made good friends. Throughout high school, Cindy dreamed of going to college to complete degree work in education
Cindy graduated high school in 1969. She married Terry Brandis. Two children were born to this union; Stephanie and Toby. Cindy attended college classes and worked to help support the family. As it happened, the marriage would not continue.
She moved to Spearfish, SD and completed her degree in Business Administration at Black Hills State University. She graduated in 1983 and moved to Rapid City with her children. She worked at the job service of South Dakota. In the summer of 1983 Cindy lost her brother Bernie and her grandmother Fern.
During that summer, she met a young United Methodist minister, Tom Peacock. As it happened, they fell in love and decided to marry. They were married December 31 st 1983. Tom had four children; Thomas, Christopher, Leslie, and Jamie. They moved into the Methodist Parsonage with their six children.
Being the "Brady Bunch" was not easy for their family, but over time the distinction of "whose" kid is this disappeared totally.
Cindy made a tremendous transition into the role of minister's wife…she did so by being herself, and people loved her. Tom and Cindy enjoyed being together. She was generous, kind, loving, forgiving, and faithful, a good wife and mother.
Cindy didn't have any illnesses in her adult life, but that changed in January of this year. In February she was diagnosed with an uncureable brain tumor. An aggressive treatment plan was devised. She fought hard for her life over a period of six months, but a sudden reappearance of the tumor which was life threatening overcame and took her life.
After a long battle with the disease, she died peacefully in the hospital on July 4 th . Her husband Tom was with her.
She is now in the presence of God. She is fully restored and made whole. She rejoins her brother Bernie and her sister-in-law Becky.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
