IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daisy Marie
Wobig
March 28, 2020
On Saturday March 28, 2020, Daisy Marie Wobig passed away at the age of 94. Marie was born October 5, 1924 to Magdeline Schafer Heron and Edison Herron in Cody Nebraska. She attended school in Cody, Nebraska. On May 28, 1941, she married Earl Gilbert Wobig in Chadron, Nebraska. They moved to the family ranch and raised their three sons Wade, Russell, and Jeffery. She lived her whole life in the place she loved until her health forced her to move to assisted care in Valentine.
She would often refer to her frail and weathered hands when she spoke to those who visited her. "Grandpa," she said, "called them working hands," hands worn in service to her family. The early years of her marriage were spent preparing food for the Sandhills winters, sewing clothes for the family, and making every meal - visiting her home was always a feast of your favorite foods and treats. During Hee Haw, she'd pretend to protest when Grandpa scooped her up in his arms, as she held him while doing a "jig", as Grandpa called it, on the living room floor.
She is survived by sons Wade and wife Joyce of Lincoln, Russell and wife Priscilla of Gering, and Jeffery of North Platte.
Grand children: Lisa, Lori, Shane, Shad, Shannon, Dawn, Erin, Kristin
Great grandchildren: Sheena, Krista Colten, Austin, Morgan, John, Holly, Brynn, Brigs, Knox, Ashley, Jacob, Patric, Jack, Jason, Nathan, Anna, Elizabeth, Emma, Kelsie, Kason
Great-great grandchildren: Tucker, Izzy, Emmett
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, her sister Maxine, brother John , and parents. She is the last of her generation on both sides of the family.
As a family member said: "Marie and Auntie Mack", her beloved sister Maxine, "are in heaven cook'n chicken and frie'n up fish." Another stated that, "Her and Earl are dancing a jig."
Marie, you were cherished, loved and will be missed.
No services will be held, but there will be a gathering at a later date to celebrate her life.
