Darrel W. Smith, 78, of Valentine, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine.

Darrel was born September 30, 1942 in Valentine to Allan and Alice (Burk) Smith. He grew up in Mission, SD and Valentine, receiving his education in Mission. Darrel married Iris Frailey in Winner, SD in 1961 and enjoyed 60 years of marriage. He was a longtime Valentine business owner.

Darrel professed to serve the Lord in 1955 as a young man.

He is survived by his wife, Iris of Valentine; daughters, Darla (Ken) Krisher and Rita Reimers all of Valentine; grandsons, Brandon (Sara) Reimers of London, Brenton (Mary) Reimers of Kearney, Ridge (Katie) Krisher of Prairie Du Sac, WI; great-grandsons, Ricardo Reimers and Hudson Reimers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Alice Smith; brother, Kon Smith; and grandson, Lance Krisher.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Valentine with Richard Gasser and Eric Sterling officiating. The casket will be closed and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
