Delbert Keith Mundorf, age 80, of Wood Lake, Nebraska passed away peacefully in his home on October 19, 2014.
Delbert was born on October 4, 1934 to James Delbert Mundorf and Lorena Mae Fernau Mundorf in Winner, South Dakota. Delbert worked in the Wood Lake area since age 16. He joined the armed services in 1954, in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. After serving honorably in the armed forces he married Elsie Darlene Kyser on May 18, 1958. To this union two children were born, Daniel Duane Mundorf and Debra Darlene Mundorf (Osburn).
Throughout his life Delbert took great pride in his work with agriculture. He was a lifelong rancher that was most at home in the country. After retirement Delbert and Elsie bought the Wood Lake Café and built many friends and memories. Delbert could often be found cheering on the Huskers, reading the Bible, or bringing smiles and laughter to many with his unforgettable sense of humor. The most important things to Delbert were his faith and family. Delbert was a member of the Wood Lake Union Church, and was active member in the American Legion and color guard. He loved spending time with his children, sister and brothers (and their yearly fishing trips). His grandchildren and his great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was one of a kind and will be missed by many.
Delbert was preceded in death by his mother Lorena, father James (Stub), daughter Debra Darlene, and brother-in-law Jake Maurer.
