Obituary

Born November 12th, 1938 in Valentine, NE to Raymond and Grace (Beman) Ormesher. Don grew up on the family ranch southeast of Valentine. He graduated from Valentine High School in 1956 and then the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 1960. There he met and married Sandra Jacqueline Suhr on August 30, 1959 in her hometown of Tecumseh.

Don and Sandi returned to the ranch where they lived their whole lives raising Hereford and Angus cattle. The marriage was blessed with three children, Jacqueline, Susan and Mark. Don was very proud of his ranching operation and took great joy that it was continuing in the family.
One of Don's favorite places to travel was the Black Hills of South Dakota and the agate beds looking for that "treasured" rock. He enjoyed sharing his passion for the hills with his children and grandchildren. Many trips were taken with family and friends to mineral shows, the playhouse, eating at favorite restaurants, driving Needles highway, and stopping at Sylvan Lake.

Besides being and avid "rock hound", Don's hobbies included photography, astronomy, writing poetry, and doing a little painting. If you were to stop out at the ranch for a visit he would be sure to give you the grand tour of not only the sandhills and cattle, but you would be led down to the basement to learn about the many fossils, rocks, astronomy photos and his painted rock collection.
Don passed away on September 20, 2019 at Linden Court in North Platte, NE.

Don is survived by his daughters Jacqueline Brenton and husband Bennett, Susan Ries and her husband Steve, and son Mark Ormesher and wife Kami. Grandchildren Brooks Brenton and fiancé Whitney, Kassandra (Brenton) Lawson and husband Derek, Brett Brenton, Stacia (Ries) Woodhead and husband Danny, Sloan (Ries) Hartman and husband James, Brandon Ormesher, Tyler Ormesher and wife Caitlyn, Nicholas Ormesher and fiancé Kori, and Trevor Ormesher.
