Edward “Mike” Arnold, born March 4, 1949, in Valentine, NE, passed away March 25, 2026 in Omaha Nebraska. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Patricia Arnold; his siblings, Mary Kay Lessert, Tom, Patricia Arnold, Eileen Angell, Peggy Hall, and Duffy; and his eldest grandson, Wyatt Arnold.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Arnold, with whom he shared nearly 52 beautiful years of marriage; his sisters, Molly Daly, Jeanie Cozad; his 4 sons, Robert and Britt, Christopher, Edward and Angie, Brian and Pam; and his cherished grandchildren, Penelope, Paxton, Liam, Alexander, Everett, Emilia, James, and Greer Arnold.
Mike ranched in Todd County, South Dakota, for nearly his entire life. He enjoyed, endured, and prospered in the same valley where his grandfather first settled in the early 1900s.
Mike was an avid storyteller, a devoted father, a connoisseur of western novels, and a larger-than-life personality who never knew a stranger and was never overly concerned with timeliness he would arrive whenever he did. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his children over the years.
He will be deeply missed by his large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as the community of friends he built throughout his life. He has finally returned home to the Sandhills, where he truly knew happiness.
A wake and rosary will be held on April 17 at 7 p.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Valentine, Nebraska. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on April 18th at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial and interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
