Obituary
Edward Wayne Mathiesen was born March 24, 1951 in Valentine Nebraska the third child of Jean Mathieson and LeaBelle Mathieson. He passed away July 11, in Valentine Nebraska.
At the age of 5 he moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where he started school. In 1957 he moved with his family to Kortes Dam, Wyoming. He spent his grade school years in Wyoming and moved to Mesa, Colorado to complete his high school years. He graduated in 1969 valedictorian of his class. He attended college in Greeley Colorado where he was the youngest editor of the school newspaper. He enlisted in the Navy in 1972, and spent most of his tour in California and Japan, and was honorably discharged in 1976.
He also received a degree from Mesa University and from Sinte Gleska.
He worked for U S West and held many different short term jobs. Survivors include his Father Jean of Valentine, Nebraska; Brother, Thomas (Edie) of Wallace Ne; Sister, Jill Schroeder (Richard) of Grand Junction, Co; one Nephew, Brett Bobbitt of Grand Junction, Colorado; four nieces, Lynda Sutrina of Grand Junction, Colorado, Carrie Clairmont of Ronan, Montana, Jennie Marquart of Dixson Nebraska, and Sandie Wilkie of Chappel, Nebraska.
His funeral will be July 18, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Sandoz Funeral Home in Valentine, NE. Inurnment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine.
