Eleanor E. (Ellie) Leach, daughter of George W. and Eunice E. (Deckert) Leach, was born on November 7, 1937 in Newman Grove, Nebraska. She grew up on surrounding ranches and attended a number of country schools in the area before completing her education at the Business School of Commerce in North Platte, Nebraska.

Ellie was blessed with daughter Katherine Joyce on November 26, 1954 and daughter Kimberly Dian on February 7, 1963.

Ellie worked at the Sutherland Hospital as a nurse aide from 1954-1958. She worked as a private nurse in Roscoe before moving to Ogallala where she worked at the Ogallala Community Hospital for ten more years. She then moved to Lewellen, Nebraska, where she worked at the Ranch House restaurant and lounge. Five years later she moved to Fort Collins, Colorado where she worked at the Sportsman's bar for twenty years where she would make many lifelong friends and be known by many as Miss Ellie May. In September of 1989 Ellie moved back to Ogallala to be closer to her family. She helped to care for her aunt and uncle Wlaschin. She cleaned homes in Ogallala from 1989-2007. In 2007 she moved to Cody, Nebraska to be closer to her daughters. Ellie resided in Cody for five years before moving in with daughter Kim and family due to health problems.

Ellie enjoyed spending time with her daughters, grandkids, great grandkids, and many friends. She upheld a healthy relationship with God and enjoyed attending bible study and church. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, visiting on the phone, and loved when people would just drop by to say hello. Ellie was a very caring and giving person that could make friends with anyone she met.

The good lord took her on December 12, 2019.

She is survived by daughter Kathy Stokey and husband Jim of Chadron, Nebraska and daughter Kim Schmit and husband Richard (Buddy) of Nenzel, Nebraska.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren:

Janell Stewart & husband Jake of Chadron; Vern Stokey & wife Tanee of Chadron; Shelby Schmit & Jason of Valentine; Shyloe Battershaw & husband Ryan of Valentine; Sami Schmit & Brandon of Lincoln; Jayden Schmit of Paxton; and Jared Schmit of Nenzel.

Nine great-grandchildren:

Dalton, Maxxton, Fletcher & Layah Stewart; Coltryn & Alyvia Stokey; Brayden, Hutchen & Rhesten Battershaw.

Brother Russell Leach & Millie of Ogallala; sister Viola Farrell of Noblesville, Indiana; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ellie is preceded in death by her parents Eunice & George Leach, brother Gale Leach, and grandson Jason Stokey.

Memorial service for Ellie Leach age 82 of Nenzel, NE will be held on Sunday, Dec. 22 ^nd at 2:00 PM at the Berean Church in Valentine.  Burial will be in Ogallala, NE at a later date.  Ellie passed away on Dec. 12 ^th at Pine View in Valentine.
