Eugene John Ramm was born October 3, 1925 to Joseph and Johanna Batenhorst Ramm at Stuart, NE. He passed away at the Tabitha Living Community In Lincoln on September 7, 2015.

Growing up in Stuart, Eugene attended St. Boniface elementary school and graduated Stuart Public High School. He married Dona Jean Anderson on September 7, 1949 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Long Pine, NE. To this union 8 children were born.

He was a lifelong rancher in Stuart and Valentine, NE. As a rancher, he worked from dawn to dusk, making a living from the land. His ability to buy quality cattle at the sale barn was a special trait. Passionate about his work, he always had extra projects in the works. A natural storyteller, Eugene could strike up a conversation with anyone he met; typically with a King Edward cigar in hand. The children in the family soon copied their father, learning the value of a full days work in their own lives.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dona Jean Ramm, an infant daughter and 2 grandsons; sisters,Coletta Stewart, Evelyn Beck, Eileen Belville, and brother Robert Ramm. He is survived by his children and their spouses ~ sons, Thomas (Deb) Ramm, Leonard (Kathy) Ramm; daughters, Ann (David) Bruntz, Rosemary (Jim) Shald, Barbara Ramm, Joan (John) Rupe, Jane (Jeff) Lacy. Also surviving, 20 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Helen Ramm.

Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene Ramm age 89 of Valentine will be held on Monday, Sept. 14 at 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Valentine. Burial will follow at Grand View Cemetery in Long Pine. Visitation will be on Sunday, Sept. 13 at noon at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was in charge of service arrangements.
