IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Florence C.
Osburn
August 31, 2020
Florence Colleen Carrier was born on December 31, 1941 in Valentine, NE. Ten children in the family, she was the ninth child born to Harley D. and Charlotte Alta (Emmons) Carrier.
Florence grew up with her family in Valentine. At the age of three, her father died from cancer, so many weekends and summers were spent with her Grandmother, Charlotte Anna Emmons, in Mullen. Florence attended and received her education in Valentine.
On August 26, 1958 she was united in marriage to Albert Ray Osburn at Pierre, SD. This union was blessed with five children, Danny, Rusty, Shane, Brad, and Robyn. Together they made their home in Valentine. Florence spent many years taking care of her children. She was a wonderful caring mother, who loved to cook and bake. She was a talented seamstress, making all her children's clothes and her own. Several hours were spent crocheting doilies and afghans for her family and friends. Her greatest hobby was attending auctions and garage sales. She loved looking for treasures and projects that she could redo or recreate. Nothing ever appeared as junk to her, she could always find a use for most things and if she could not, she was always ready to gift her treasures to her children and grandchildren. There were several items she would bring home that Ray or her children would look at and wonder why she liked it, but sharing her unique finds gave her much joy and happiness.
Florence was always ready to help anyone and liked to be active. She loved road trips for shopping sprees, especially looking for jewelry, and finding bargains. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, where she would let them watch TV all night and eat whatever they desired. Family was important to her and she was proud of all her family.
