Obituary

Glen Irvin Ladely was born June 3, 1922 at home near Prentice NE to Charles and Esther (Brady) Ladely. He passed away January 31, 2014 at his son David's home in North Platte NE.
Glen was 5 years old when he moved to Todd County in a covered wagon. He farmed and ranched in Todd County for more than 75 years.
Glen served in the US Navy during WWII. He was inducted February 9, 1945 and served until April 28, 1946.
.
On October 25, 1944, Glen married Martha Leah Mundorf at Valentine NE. To this union was born five (5) children: Gendine (Jerry) Heinert of Delmont, SD, David Ladely and Dee of North Platte NE, Duwaine (Shirley) Ladely of Dixon Ne, Robert (Tink/dec) Ladely of Garland, NE and Kathie Lurz and Tom of Valentine NE.
Also thankful for sharing his life are nineteen (19) grandchildren, thirty-six (36) great-grandchildren, and one (1) great great grandson. They fondly remember Granddad's pinches to their "felt" pants, his whisker burns to their tender cheek,s and his firm handshake, which always turned into a sparing match.
We all remember his 'cure all' of Epson Salts, his chokecherry picking that turned into Grandma's wonderful chokecherry jelly and his fabulous garden. His garden produced their famous pickled beets, beautiful heads of cabbage, huge carrots, and of course his 'good for you' fried onions.
He loved the outdoors, gardening and had a special love for buck-skin horses.
If Glen had a hobby it might have been climbing windmills. His neighbor would fondly call "The Kid" to climb a windmill or some such task.
Glen is survived by his wife of seventy years, children, seventeen (17) grand-children, thirty-six (36) great-grand-children, one (1) great-great-grandson, his brother Douglas (Barbara) Ladely Bonners Ferry, ID. Brothers and sister-in-laws Freida Ladely, Lillian Tlustos, Leland (Del) Mundorf, Leonard (Susanne) Mundorf, Lloyd Mundorf, Wayne Benz, many nieces and nephews and host of family and friends.
