Harold George Sherman was born November 2, 1936 to Harold and Anna

(Langer) Sherman at home near Norden, NE.  He passed away at the Cherry County Hospital, in Valentine, NE at the age of 81 years 11 months and 9 days.

George went to grade school at District 21 in Norden, NE.  His early years were spent farming and ranching with his dad and working for farmers in the community.

In 1965 he moved to Valentine, he owned and operated the local Corner Bar, and other liquor stores, and a café in Springview, NE.  Through these businesses he acquired many friends.

George married Betty Phipps Swanson and to this union a son Elvis, was

born.  George and Betty divorced in 1980.

In 2017 he sold his businesses, and found out retirement was not for him

and opened Crazy George Liquor Store.  In January 2018 his health began to fail and he spent the last few months in the hospital and being confined to home.

He was preceded in death by parents, Harold and Anna Sherman; sister,

Mary Anne Rossenbach; brother-in-law, Don Rossenbach; brother-in- law

Ron Melcher; and sister-in-law Roberta Sherman.

Survivors include Marie, best friend and companion of 37 years, son Elvis; Denver, Colorado, brother, Bill Sherman; sister, Loretta (Snooks) Melcher, and sister-in-law Mary Lou Kerr; all of Valentine. Many nieces and nephews and a host of friends, and special friend Ron Belt.

His favorite past times were watching HIS Atlanta Braves and Westerns, he

enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and the last few months he especially enjoyed playing cribbage with his brother and sister.

George had many friends and will be remembered for his kindness and helping friends when they were in need.  He would give the shirt off his back for a friend in need.
