Obituary

Jacqueline Cozad passed away peacefully at her home on August 24, 2018.  Jackie was love, is loved, and will continue to be loved by those who held her near and dear through her 93 wonderful years on earth.  Jackie lived a life full of love, promise, and hope but was no stranger to facing adversity head on.  All of these chapters and experiences molded her into the unforgettable woman she was, the one that you could not help but to j'adore (Fr) from the moment you met her.

Jackie graced the path of all those fortunate enough to have known her and taught many of life's most important lessons along the way…like what sights to see in Paris, how to cook a hardy meal for a cowboy (which always included a cherry pie), and it was always ok to indulge in a can of Cream Soda and a Krispy Kreme donut.  Her lessons taught us to be strong and brave and to remember the important things in life.

Jacqueline Ginette Germane  Louise Bert was born in Paris France on September 20, 1924 to Gaston and Germane Miniere and joined an older brother Jacque.  At age 9 she lost both parents and was then raised by a great-aunt.  During World War II Jackie met and fell in love with an American Army soldier named Kenneth Cozad.  After facing many difficult legalities Jackie arrived in Omaha where she and Kenneth were married.  Arriving in the Sandhills meant learning a new language and set of skills.  The Cozad and O'Kief families patiently helped her assimilate to her new ranch life.  Her indomitable spirit which was encouraged by her family and friends made for a happy life.  Jackie was an exemplary model of the beautiful French proverb "Quand on a pas ce que I'on aime, il faut aimer ce que I'on a" which means "When one does not have what one loves, it's necessary to love what one has."

Jackie's legacy includes daughter Linda Murray (Bob) and Nancy Newman (Tim) all of Lincoln, Ne.,  Grandchildren Megan McCave (Nick), Colette Garcia (Che), Bobby Murray (Elli), Logan Newman (Celia), and Levi Newman and  Great-Grandchildren London 8, Elliette 7, Fae 6, Pearl 5, Ruby 3, Remington 1, Kai 1, and Emberly 1.  Jackie made a special impact on the world that will live on through us all.  She is now in the arms of her beloved husband.
