Funeral service for Jean Lewis, age 58 of Scotland, SD and formerly of Valentine will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine.  The burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Valentine.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6th from 5-7 PM at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines.  Jean passed away on January 31, 2025, in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by family.

Jean was born in Cherokee, Iowa on June 13, 1966, to George and Joan Thomas Lewis.  She graduated from Valentine High School in 1985.  Jean moved to South Dakota in 2003 then to Iowa for a short time, where she lived with her dad to go back to college.  She graduated with multiple associate's degrees in medical billing and coding.  Jean moved to Scotland, SD in 2017 where she spent the rest of her life.

Jean loved shopping, her cat Baxter, spending time with her kids and grandkids, road trips with her sister Tina, collecting stuffed animals, camping, and drinking caramel frappes and sweet tea.  She was an avid sports fan, watching sports and yelling at the tv while doing so, along with listening to music (mostly 80's rock and roll) and helping Payzlee with homework.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Dexter and Betty Lewis.  She is survived by her sons, Josh Lewis and daughter Arabella of Grand Island, NE, Derek Fulmer and fiancé, Laurie and children Brooklyn, Arianna, and Bently of Hastings, NE, Dustin Ostrander and children, Makenna, Darius and Yzabeau of Scotland, SD, Shawn Ostrander and girlfriend Amanda and children Helijah, Sparrow, Shawn, Baby Ostrander of Grand Island, NE, Austin Ostrander and fiancé Chelsi and children Kaylani and Lawsyn and stepdaughter, Tennessee and stepson Ruger of Scotland, SD.  Also surviving is sister, Tina Osborne and husband Danny of Scotland, SD and a very dear friend, Dan Fulmer.

Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine, NE was in charge of service arrangements.
