James (Jim) Battershaw, 61 passed away on Wednesday December 10, 2014 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Jim was born to the late Dale and Elsie Battershaw on September 20, 1953 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. He married the love of his life Jeannie Battershaw on October 6, 1983 and spent 31 years of their marriage wanting nothing more than to spoil his bride and their family.
In 1980, Jim fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning a mechanic shop by opening Jim's Repair in Valentine. Jim's passion was working on tractors, and he was never afraid to lend a hand, an ear, or whatever he could to anyone that walked through his doors.
Jim is survived by wife Jeannie, their children; Scott Battershaw and wife Pam, Kim Allard, Sharee Maki and Ben Brester, Jessica Bowser and husband Brett, Jacob Battershaw and Hillary, and parents-in-law Betty and Bob Perrett. A favorite pastime was allowing his grandchildren to have as many treats as possible before getting caught by their parents. Grandchildren are Shamra (Blake), Kylee (Keith), Bradley, Amanda, James, Jarrett, Kadyn, Caleb and Briar. Jim was very proud of his great grandchild Delanee. Surviving Siblings are Marie (Lee) Kramer, Sandy (Don) Frey, Peggy (Roy) Baumgarten, and Nancy Shandrew who provided him with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Jim in death were his parents Dale and Elsie Battershaw, and siblings Bill, Bob, and twin brother Jerry and brother-in-law Bob.
The Funeral Mass for James Lee Battershaw was held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Valentine at 10:00 am on Monday, December 15th, followed by burial at Mount Hope Cemetery. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was entrusted with Funeral arrangements.
