John Robert Longcor (3/22/1945-9/29/2024) passed away on Sunday, September 29th.  John is survived by his four children: Lyn Longcor from Rapid City, SD, Tina Longcor from Denver, CO, Michael Longcor from Hornell, NY, and Bill (Brittny) Longcor, children Averie and Jett from Valentine, NE, he is also survived by Sister, Loleta (David) Kvien from Sioux Falls, SD.

He is preceded in death by parents Mike and Zeta Longcor and brother Ralph Longcor.

John graduated from Valentine High School in 1963.  He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968, seeing combat in the Vietnam War, receiving a purple heart.

John was a lifelong cattle rancher and horseman, working on his ranch west of Mission, SD.  He enjoyed raising cattle and riding horses.  He was a fan of rodeo, riding barebacks when younger, calf roping and team roping throughout his life.

He greatly enjoyed the camaraderie and competition with other cowboys.

In his later years, his two grandchildren provided him great joy.

Graveside service for John Longcor, age 79 of Valentine will be held on Monday, October 7 at 11:00 AM at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine.  A visitation will be held from 3 to 6 PM on Sunday, October 6th at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine.  John passed away on September 29, 2024, at his home in Valentine.
