H. Kay Sedivy was born May 6, 1948 in Valentine, Nebraska to Dwight E. and Helen M. (Massingale) Dam. Kay received her formal education in the Valentine Public Schools and graduated from Valentine High School in 1966. She then attended the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics Education.
Kay married Allen R. Sedivy on June 8, 1970 at the Valentine Presbyterian Church. After a short time in Waverly and Lincoln, they made their home in Valentine where Kay was a devoted mother of daughters Susan Kay and Krista Marie.
Kay was very active in her community and was a member of P.E.O., Sandhills Home Economists, Hospital Auxiliary, Presbyterian Church, Quilt Guild, Women Investors of Nebraska (W.I.N.) and Kappa Delta Sorority. She served as a 4-H Leader and Girl Scout Leader for many years. Kay enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading and cooking. Her favorite pastime was spoiling her grandkids.
Kay passed away, July 6, 2013 at Cherry County Hospital in Valentine. She was preceded in death by her parents Dwight and Helen Dam. Survivors include her husband Allen of Valentine, daughters Susie Katt and husband Jason of Lincoln, Kris and husband Scott of Valentine and grandchildren Tenley and Huxton Katt and Fletcher and Lex Larsen. Also surviving is sister Sue Arganbright (Warren) and nephews Kyle Arganbright (Amy) and Kurt Arganbright (Danielle and Kase).
Memorials are designated to H. Kay Sedivy Memorial Fund to be used to provide a scholarship to the Most for VHS recipient.
Funeral service for Kay Sedivy age 65 of Valentine will be held Wednesday, July 10th at 2:00 P.M. at the Presbyterian Church in Valentine. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Mrs Sedivy passed away Saturday, July 6th at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine.
