Kon Allan Smith was born December 14 ^th , 1940, in Valentine, Nebraska, to Allan Smith and Alice (Burke) Smith.  He finished life on February 2 ^nd , 2020, in North Platte, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, 1 month, and 19 days.  Kon spent the first years of his life near Lakeview, South Dakota. His early elementary years were spent travelling with his family from South Dakota to Texas, hauling gravel, finally settling north of Mission, South Dakota, at the age of 12.  He attended Todd County High School through the 10 ^th grade.

Kon made his choice to serve the Lord at the age of 14 and stayed true to that choice until the day of his death.

Kon met the love of his life, Rebecca (Holmgren) Smith from Scottsbluff, Nebraska, in the fall of 1960.  He and Becky were married on October 7 ^th , 1961. They were blessed with three daughters, Kristine, Lisa, and Emily.

He was an entrepreneur from the age of 16.  His endeavors included a cream station, a sporting goods shop and a fireworks stand. He also drove school bus and was a custodian at the school.  He opened a service station/tire shop in 1966, which he ran for 22 years.

After retirement, he and Becky wintered in Arizona for many years.  Kon loved motorcycles, cars, snowmobiles, waterskiing, four-wheeling, and camping.  In later years, he loved to read any non-fiction book he could get his hands on.  He enjoyed survival stories and war stories.  He loved his Bible and meetings.  Kon treasured his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the time he spent with them.

Kon was preceded in death by his parents, Allan G Smith and Alice (Burke) Smith.

He is survived by and will be missed by: his wife, Rebecca Smith of Mission, South Dakota; three daughters, Kristine (Loren) Lewis of Nisland, SD, Lisa Swenson of Cando, ND, Emily (Kerry) Bukaske of York, NE; ten grandchildren, Eric (Laura) Lewis, Eron (Danielle) Lewis, Elise (Jesse) Strickland, Katie (Esaú) Escobar, Amy (Jeff) Borys, Victor Swenson, Jonathan Swenson, Tristan (Yadira) Bukaske, Trevor (Emily) Bukaske, and Trey Bukaske; and 14 great-grandchildren.  Also, one brother, Darrel (Iris) Smith of Valentine, NE;  two cousins, Cecil Smith of Fort Myers, FL and Jim Smith of Urbana, MO; an aunt, Norma Bennett of Hayward, CA, and numerous special nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Kon Smith age 79 of Mission will be held on Friday, Feb. 7 ^th at 10:30 AM at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine.  Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Valentine.  Visitation will be on Thursday, Feb 6 ^th at 6 PM at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines.  Mr. Smith passed away on Feb. 2 ^nd in North Platte, NE.
