Larry Dean Hain was born on January 9, 1941 in Indianola, Iowa to loving parents Albert & Dorothy Hain. Larry excelled in school and graduated from Iowa State with his BS in Business and Accounting. After attaining the highest rank possible in the National Guard, Larry moved to Omaha, Nebraska to start his career in accounting. While working for Haskins and Sells CPA firm, Larry was assigned to an auditing project in Valentine, Nebraska in 1965 where he met his future wife, Jonita Sears. Larry always said "It was love at first sight!"
Jonita and Larry married on April 29, 1967. They settled permanently in Omaha where they started their family. They enjoyed a beautiful home in Millard where their three children - Alecia, Andrew and Ann - were born. Larry continued to excel in the Omaha business world and was the controller of First Data Corporation. The Hain family enjoyed vacationing to the family ranch in Valentine, skiing during the winter in Colorado and boating in the warm summer months. Their favorite summer destinations included Branched Oak Lake in Lincoln, Merritt Dam in Valentine and Lake Manawa in Iowa. As the children grew older, Larry and Jonita built a second family home on Lake Calamus in Burwell, Nebraska. For decades, the family, extended family, and many friends had wonderful times in Burwell. Larry and Jonita's favorite pastime was watching the pink and orange sunsets that graced the rugged sandhills on clear evenings.
Larry was an avid Husker football fan. The family spent many weekends tailgating in Lincoln, rooting for the Huskers and often traveling to bowl games.
In his retired years, Larry and Jonita loved traveling across country in their RV, cheering on Nebraska football, feeding the finches, and listening to country music. He loved spending time with his three children, his eight grandchildren and of course his loving wife of 53 years. Larry and Jonita took extraordinary care of each other up until his very last day on July 4 th , 2020.
