Obituary

Leabelle Ann Hutchison Mathiesen was born April 4, 1927 in Burton, NE, the fifth in a family of eight children of Lee and IsaBelle Hutchison. She passed away April 12, 2015 at Pine View Good Samaritan Center in Valentine, NE.
In her early childhood her family moved to St. Francis, SD, where she spent her early years. She graduated from Todd County High School in 1944.
On August 11, 1945 she married Jean Mathiesen and to this union three children were born, Thomas Jean (Edie), Jill Ann Schroeder (Richard) and Edward Wayne. They lived and raised their family in Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado, returning to South Dakota in 1997. Because of Leabelle's failing health, they moved to Valentine in 2013.
During the war Leabelle taught school at the Verduin School, later she work at Consumer's Power, Northwestern Bell, The State of Wyoming and the US Post Office. Her true vocation was wife and mother. She chose to serve the Lord and was baptized in 1986 in Paonia, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Gene, Rex, and Max; 3 sisters, Geraldine Tinant, Maurine McCray and Corrine Stanley; 1 grandson, Brice Mathiesen. She is survived by her husband, her children; 1 sister, Caryll Homan; sister-in-law, Irene Hutchison; brother-in-law, George Stanley; 5 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Leabelle was held on Wednesday, April 15 at 2:00 PM at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine. Burial followed at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine, NE was in charge of service arrangements.
