Louiese M. (Lanz) Hronek, 91 of Valentine NE, passed away Saturday July 13, 2013, at Rock County Long Term Care, Bassett, NE.
Louiese was born on January 29, 1922, at Crookston, NE to Frank and Pearl Lanz. She grew up North of Kilgore at Mission Ranch, and lived on Bull Creek Ranch in the Lakeview SD area. She worked at the old Cherry Co Hospital working hard to receive her LPN degree. This was where she met Warren as he was visiting a friend while on leave from service. They were married January 7, 1946. Mike came along first and then Janice.
They ranched and farmed in the Lakeview area for many years. 4-H was a big part of her life growing up and she was 4-H leader for years. In 1966 they moved to Valentine, where she worked at the Coast to Coast store and hospital once again. They moved back to the Lakeview community, where they worked together for 16 years. She was the cook and helped with the upkeep of the school and grounds with Warren.
In 1986, they moved to Norfolk. Louiese did different jobs, hostess at Wendy's and later Hy-Vee East retiring finally at the young age of 82.
Louiese loved growing flowers, baking pies, cookies, brownies, doing needle work, and making many angel pins, and crafts of all kinds. She never met a stranger. Wherever she lived she made friends. They belonged to the Norfolk Antique Club and were members of the Westridge United Methodist Church in Norfolk. While in Valentine, they were members of the Valentine United Methodist Church.
She is survived by son Mike of Oakdale NE; daughter Janice Smith of Valentine; son-in-law Lloyd of Valentine; grandson Jansen and fiancée Brandi of Sylvania, Ala; great-grandchildren Natalie and JJ, and former granddaughter-in-law Tammy all of Valentine; sister Marie Peters of Pender NE; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Warren, her parents Frank and Pearl, brother Albert, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are all her nephews, Roger, Richard and Paul Peters, Larry Lanz, Rex and Gary Gallino, Rodney and Lavern Lanz, Bob and Larry Hahn, Duane and Gary Hronek.
Funeral service for Louiese Hronek age 91 of Valentine will be held on Saturday, July 20 at 1:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Valentine. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Visitation will be on Friday, July 19 at 2:00 PM at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine.
