Lyle Dennis Cate II was born on May 22, 1972 in Valentine, NE to Lyle and Suzette Bisch Cate. He passed away on May 10, 2015 at his home in Valentine.
Lyle attended school in Valentine and later graduated from Valentine High School in 1991. After high school he enlisted in the National Guard and later attended the University Of Nebraska at Kearney, graduating college in 1995.
While in Kearney, Lyle met and later married his wife, Michelle Seachord. They were married on June 21, 1997 in Fairbury, NE. To this union two children were born. Lyle D Cate III on June 10, 1999 and Logan Cate on April 2, 2002. Lyle was actively involved with Jr. Storm Hockey with his sons while in Kearney.
The family lived and worked in Kearney, NE until the fall of 2010, when the family moved back to Lyle's home town of Valentine. While in Valentine Lyle worked for Beel Construction.
Lyle was a member of the American Legion. He was an avid golfer but his greatest joy was being back in his home town and following his boy's activities.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife, Michelle of Valentine; two sons, Lyle D. III and Logan, both of home; uncle and aunt, Don and Donna Bristow of Todd County, SD; and aunt, Belva Lewis of Childress, TX. Also surviving are numerous cousins including Margaret Stoeger and Monica Bristow both of Valentine.
Memorial service for Lyle Cate II was held on Saturday, May 16 at 2:00 PM at the Methodist Church in Valentine. Inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was entrusted with service arrangements.
