Marie Ann Kramer, 66, of Valentine, NE, departed this earthly life Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Bryan-LGH in Lincoln NE.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday June 11 at 2 pm at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Valentine with burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery and reception and celebration of life at the Veteran's club at 4 pm.  A Rosary will be held Sunday evening at 7 pm at the Catholic Church.

Marie was born at Norfolk, NE, January 3, 1952, to Dale and Elsie (Scholl) Battershaw. On October 21, 1972, she married Darrell (Lee) Kramer. To this union, three boys were born: Dale Ren (DR), Mark Lee (who passed away in infancy), and Jeff Lee.

Marie loved her family and her world revolved around taking care of her boys and grandson Cooper, who was the joy of her life.

As a young woman, Marie helped at the Battershaw family restaurant, the Buttercup. In early marriage, Marie was a farm wife and homemaker.  After moving to town, she worked in the billing office at Cherry County Hospital and then at the reception desk for Health and Human Services.

Marie was a fabulous cook and loved fixing big meals for family. Visits from family brought a smile to her face. She always delighted in having Cooper come to visit and would love telling everyone all the things he was doing and comments he had made. She loved gardening, joining friends for visits over coffee, crafting, and searching for treasures at garage sales and antique shops. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone she met.

Marie is survived by her husband Lee, sons DR (Amanda) and Jeff, and grandson Cooper; sisters Sandy Frey (Don) of Albion NE, Nancy Shandrew of Valentine, and Peggy Baumgarten (Roy) of Tieton, WA; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Duryea (Fred) of Valentine, Brenda Kramer of Shelton, WA; brother-in-law Bob Kramer (Kay) of Valentine, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Preceding her in death was her infant son, Mark Lee, her parents, Dale and Elsie Battershaw, brothers Bill, Bob, Jerry and Jim, aunt Elsie Fowler, mother-in-law, Sylvia Sharp (Milan) and brother-in-law Fred Kramer.
