Martha Leah Mundorf Ladely was born on October 23, 1924 in Sparks, NE to Quincy Earl and Lillian Myrtle (Lawrence) Mundorf. She went to her heavenly home on January 4, 2018 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston, SD.
She attended elementary school in Crookston, NE and in the Borszich and Poignee schools in Todd County, South Dakota. She attended Todd County High School in Mission, SD, graduating in 1942.
She along with her father and sister, worked in the ammunition factory in Hastings, NE during World War II. She attended college in Miltonvale, KS.
On October 25, 1944, she married Glen I. Ladely in Valentine, NE in the same sanctuary that we are in today. They were married nearly 70 years. To this union was born five (5) children: Glendine (Jerry) Heinert of Delmont, SD, David Ladely and Dee of North Platte, NE, Duwaine (Shirley) Ladely of Dixon, NE, Robert (Dianne) Ladely of Malcom, NE, and Kathie Lurz and Tom of Valentine, NE.
Martha Leah attended Chadron State College, graduating with a degree in elementary education in 1968. She taught in several Nebraska rural schools, some being the Rhawls, Brownlee, Goosecreek, and Shauls schools and at Rosebud & Littleburg in South Dakota. Martha Leah cherished her students dearly and loved to see their progress. Martha Leah was an active member of her church, teaching Sunday School and serving in many other capacities.
Martha Leah is survived by her children. Also thankful for sharing her life are nineteen (19) grandchildren, thirty-six (36) great-grandchildren and six (6) great-great-grandchildren, three (3) brothers, Leland (Del) Mundorf, Leonard (Susanne) Mundorf, and Lloyd Mundorf, and brothers-in-laws Wayne Benz, and Douglas (Barbara) Ladely, sister-in-law Freida Ladely, and many nieces and nephews
Martha Leah was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, her parents, daughter-in-law Tink Ladely, grandsons Ronald and Robert Lurz, brother Lawrence Mundorf, sisters Lillian Tlustos and Lois Benz, In-laws Charles and Esther (Brady) Ladely, brothers and sisters-in-law Leona Nieuwenhuis, Walter Nieuwenhuis, George Tlustos, Clarence Ladely, and Donald Ladely.
Funeral service for Martha Leah Ladely was held on Wednesday, January 10 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Valentine. Pastor Andrew Utecht officiated at the 2:00 PM service. Burial followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was in charge of service arrangements.
