Martin Louis Jones was born on March 19, 1935 at home in Mission, SD to Lawrence "LE" and Florence (Knittel) Jones.  Martin was the 3rd of 4 children:  Elizabeth "Betty Ann" Kalblinger, Loretta Hopkins and Larry Jones.

Martin attended elementary school at the Lutheran Parochial School and graduated from Mission High School in 1953.  Martin participated in football, basketball, baseball and track.

Martin was married to Eunice Mae Hull on January 23, 1954.  This union was blessed with 4 daughters:  Deb (Joe) Valandra, Monica (Duane) Rahn, Marty Jones and Jody (Wade) Jackson.  Martin was also blessed with 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

Martin ranched in Mission most of his life.  Martin was also a carpenter, welder, plumber and did construction.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman and a master woodworker.  Martin could turn his hand to anything.

Martin is preceded in death by his parents, LE and Florence Jones, his wife of 65 years, Eunice; sister,

Betty Kalblinger and 2 grandsons, Duane "Dee" Rahn and Daniel Jackson.

Funeral service for Martin Jones age 88 of Mission, SD, will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Peace Lutheran Church south of Mission.  Burial will follow at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 15th at 5:00 PM with prayer service at 7:00 PM at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine.  Mr. Jones passed away on November 10, 2023 at his home.
