Memorial service for Mary Anne McCollister age 84 of Valentine will be held on Monday, Aug. 19 at 2:00 PM at St. John's Episcopal Church in Valentine. Mary Anne passed away on Monday at her home in Valentine.
Mary Anne O'Neill McCollister was born November 10, 1928 in Ainsworth, NE to Otis and Lella (Brewer) O'Neill. She received her early education in Valentine and graduated from Valentine High School.
Mary Anne was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, St. John's Altar Guild and served on the Vestry of St. John's. She was also active in her community and served on the Cherry County Hospital Foundation, a member of Centennial Hall, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed golf and bowling.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Otis and Lella O'Neill, two brothers, Gene and James O'Neill and a sister, Peggy Till. She is survived by daughters, Deborah Hammer and husband Jim, Pamela Markus and husband Richard and Elizabeth Lampton and husband Richard; one sister, Beverly Wharton and husband John of Omaha. Also surviving are grandchildren, Michael Mulligan, Ryan Mulligan, JB Hammer, Chris Hammer, Brianne Olive and Skyler King, 9 great grandchildren, 6 nieces and 2 nephews.
