Obituary

Mary Pauline (Bachelor) Mulligan, 94, passed away on June 11, 2015 at Pine View Manor. Mary was born June 24, 1920 to Otho (Boots) and Cecilia Bachelor. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy at O'Neill, NE in 1937. Mary achieved Normal Training and taught her sister, Ruthie. Later, while living with dear Aunt Almira Christopher, she attended Business College in Great Falls, MT. After returning to Valentine, she was employed at Nebraska State Bank. Mary was Queen of the Valentine's Day Coronation in 1941. Mary married William A. Mulligan on Oct. 12, 1942. To this union seven children were born: Regina Mulligan Lamoureaux, Mary Marjorie Mulligan (deceased), William Otho "Boots" Mulligan (Judy), Barbara Mulligan Hammond, Mary Colleen Mulligan Todd (Steve), Thomas K. Mulligan, and James J. Mulligan (Sue). Mary was a devout Catholic and member of Christian Mothers. After the death of William, she learned to play bridge. She was an avid player and so enjoyed her bridge parties. Mary enjoyed traveling with Dorothy Lord's trips to Europe, East Coast for the foliage, New York and Branson. Mary loved well and was well loved. Every night she prayed the rosary and prayed for all of us. Grammy Mugs will be dearly missed by her six children, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, her sister Ruth Bachelor Salman and her dear friends. Mary was preceded in death by Mary Marjorie, daughter, and William Andrew Mulligan, husband of 40 years.

Memorials have been designated to the Wood Lake Cemetery. Mass of Christian burial was held June 16, 2015 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Valentine. Burial was at Mount Hope Cemetery in Wood Lake, NE. Rosary was held Monday evening, June 15th at St. Nicholas. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was entrusted with funeral arrangements.
