Patience Maybelle Brechbill Carr passed away January 22, 2017 at the age of 101 years and six months at Pine View Good Samaritan home in Valentine NE.
Maybelle was born July 22, 1915 in Valentine NE to Rosie Miriah Jelly and Jacob Brechbill. She attended Sparks school and St Mary's high school in O'Neill, NE, graduating in 1933.
She was united in marriage to Robert Carr, March 1st 1936 in Chadron NE. They were lifetime South Dakota ranchers. In 1945, they moved to Valentine where Bob was a part owner of the Valentine Livestock Co.
Maybelle's life centered around her family and her husband. The ranch hands and sons-in-law loved her branding feeds and her cinnamon rolls. Her flowers were a pleasure to her and her home always had blooming African violets. She was a Girl Scout leader, Jobs Daughters Guardian, member of the Valentine Presbyterian Church, 60 year Eastern Star member and a 68 year member of the PEO sisterhood. She belonged to Lucky Thirteen bridge group, for many years.
Maybelle had one sister who was a lifetime best friend, Florence Goodrich, who passed away September 28, 1990. Her uncle Aetna was a great blessing to the girls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and loving husband of seventy- four years, three brothers-in-law and their wives, two nieces, and two nephews.
She leaves to mourn her death five children, their spouses and families;
Janice and Tom Scripter of Gering NE, Jeanne and Bob Smith of Norfolk, NE, Cathy and John Segrist of Spearfish, SD, Bobby and Terrie Carr and Sheila Carr from Valentine NE, brother-in-law Jack Carr and his wife Betty, 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and six great, great grandchildren.
Funeral service for Maybelle Carr age 101 of Valentine will be held on Friday, Jan. 27 at 2:00 PM at the Presbyterian Church in Valentine. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Valentine.
