Obituary

Millie Leone Stoner was born July 4, 1925 at Lakeview, SD was one of six children born to Isaac and Gertrude (Dykstra) Risseeuw. She weighed 3# and was so little that her mom could put her wedding ring around her wrist. She was so tiny that they kept her in a shoe box by the stove to keep her warm. Her mom also carried her on a pillow so she wouldn't hurt her because she was so fragile. Millie went to Hutchinson Grade School and then went to the Malone School. Millie rode her horse to school. She graduated from Mission High School, then went on to Springfield one year to get her teaching certificate. She then came back and taught her sister Arlene 1st grade. She taught school and then worked at the telephone office until one evening changed her life. She met Charlie Stoner at a Quonset dance in Kilgore, NE. In 1953 they married and she followed him though his army tour. In 1957 they moved home and started ranching and started their family. Where five boys where born, Randy, Dale, infant son, Jerry and Mark. In July of 1957 they moved 40 miles south of Nenzel to the Taylor Ranch. Millie always did all of the cooking for the hired men and cared for her sons. In 1968 they moved back Kilgore and expanded the Stoner Ranch. She continued to cook and follow her boy's school events. Starting in 1979 the first grandchild was born and by 2000 the last grandchild was born. She was blessed with 13 grandkids and 7 great grandsons with 2 on the way.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (Harold and Ray) and one infant son. She is survived by her husband, Charlie of 59 years; 4 sons Randy (Beth), Dale (Tammy), Jerry (Kay), and Mark (Dedra); 13 grandchildren – Becky (Casey) Lancaster, Buffy (Tom) Cooper, Kari (Ira) Spanel, Shara (Trent) Ford, Cody, Tell, Kylee, Tyce, Heather (Jack) King, Miles (Shaunna), Bobbie Jo, Rachel (fiancée Jon Kime) & Jake Stoner. Great Grandsons Carson & Blake Lancaster, Cash & Luke Cooper, Easton Spanel, Bentley Ford, & Jack Weston King. She is also survived by brothers Don (Lavina) Risseeuw, Jim Risseeuw, & Sister Arlene (Willie) Hoff, Sister-in-law Marsha Risseeuw, along with nieces, nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials in memory of Millie to the Kilgore Cemetery.

Funeral service for Millie Stoner age 87 of Kilgore will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Valentine. Burial will follow at 2:30 CT at the Kilgore Cemetery in Kilgore. Visitation will be on Friday at 11:00 AM till 9:00 PM with family present from 4 to 6. Mrs. Stoner passed away on Monday at the Cherry Co. Hospital in Valentine.
