Neale Perrett was born in Hyannis, NE on July 30, 1931. His Parents were Walter and Frances (Gross) Perrett. He passed away on May 17, 2026, at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine.
Neale Joined brothers Fred and Royce and sisters Illys and Miriam. Neale lived his first 4 years in the Hyannis area. Then he spent 9 years on the Joe and Harry Minor Ranch south of Gordon where Walter was foreman. On May 10, 1945, Walter, Frances and Neale moved southwest of Valentine to the ranch along the Niobrara River. This was to be his home for the next 79 years.
This move was made so he could go to high school. High school was quite a change for a country boy. He was on the boxing team, football team, V-Club member and Glee Club. Neale said Dick Shamis hit him so hard during football practice he didn’t know if he would ever get up. Neale graduated with the class of 1949.
In the fall of 1950, Neale was diagnosed with Polio and spent several months in the Lincoln General Hospital. Neale’s sister-in-law was also hospitalized in the Children’s Hospital at the same time, with Polio. It was hard to talk about others being admitted one day and gone the next.
Later Neale worked at Youngs Western Wear for Kurt and Cork Young. Neale then traveled for Circle Y saddlery of Yoakum, TX, Handler Fenton Western Clothes and Laramie Boots for about 10 years. He returned to ranch life, raising mostly angus cattle and registered paint and quarter horses.
Neale was confirmed in the Episcopal Church on March 14, 1948, and served on the Vestry for several years. He was a Master Mason and Past Master of the Minnechaduza Lodge #192 also a OES member. Neale was also on the board of directors for the Valentine Livestock Auction.
His parents preceded him in death as did his brothers and sisters and a great grandson, Basil Stoner. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann; children, Janeal Dominico, Joni Rodabaugh, Gregg and Solveig Perrett, Brian and Michelle Perrett, Randy and Beth Stoner and Seth and Becky Perrett; 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, May 28th at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines. Mr. Perrett passed away on May 17th at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine.
