Ramona Ethel Breitkreutz Colsden was born on May 24, 1928 to Harvey and Veronica Breitkreutz on a farm 8 miles southwest of Wisner, NE. Growing up on the farm and being the eldest daughter she always helped her mother with household chores and taking care of her younger sisters and brothers. Her aunt said she was like a little mother, always helping her mother.
Ramona attended district #70 rural school and Wisner High School. She later attended Capital Beauty School in Omaha, NE and graduated on October 22, 1948 and worked as a beautician for several years.
Ramona married Eldon Colsden on April 12, 1953 in Stanton, NE. To this union three sons were born.
Ramona was active in the Methodist Church, the V.F.W. #1644, and the Ladies Auxiliary and served on many committees. Including, Auxiliary President and also District #3 V.F.W. Auxiliary President and was chosen most Outstanding District President in the state of Nebraska during those years. She enjoyed her family and friends, cooking, baking and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldon; brothers, Al, Roland, LeRoy and sister, Violet Thompson. She is survived by her three sons, Gerald, Dennis, Douglas; grandchildren, Adam, Amy Latzel, Alan, Joshua; great grandchildren, Jackson, McCoy, Bodie, Brock, Elena, Tobias, Felix, Peyton and Aiden. She also survived by brothers and sisters, Duane, Evelyn Smith, Betty Priest, Rita Clark and Sharon Lehman.
Funeral service for Ramona Colsden was held on Monday, January 26 at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine. Rev. Corey Jenkins officiated at the 2:00 PM service. Burial followed at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine was entrusted with service arrangements.
