Obituary

Ramona Mae (Ohlmann) May was born on May 27, 1930, in Crookston, NE to Albert and Minnie Ohlmann. She attended several country schools in the area and graduated from 8th grade at Zion Lutheran Grade School in 1944. She attended one year of high school in New Ulm Minnesota before moving back to Valentine to work. In 1955, she married Dan May and they moved to Interior, South Dakota. During their time there they were blessed with three children, Dennis, Clint, and Kay. She moved back to Valentine in 1998 where she spent the rest of her life enjoying time with family.

Ramona was born into the Lutheran faith, confirmed in May 1944, and remained a strong Christian her entire life. She was a member of the Ladies Aide as well as a helpful hand for any church event.

Ramona's passion in life was her family, and she helped raise the many children that passed through her door. She welcomed them with open arms, a smile, and a freshly made pan of cinnamon rolls or cheerio bars. She loved playing cards with family and friends. It was a known fact that during a game of pitch you were in good hands if you were on her team and in trouble if you weren't.

Family was the most important thing in Ramona's life. Some of her happiest times were spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her daily prayers was that all of her loved ones would enjoy God's blessings and meet in heaven one day.

Ramona was called home to heaven on June 28, 2018, in Kearney NE. She is survived by her sisters: Berdien Morrison & Gertrude Horn. Children: Dennis May (Theresa), Clint May, and Kay Hand (Tracy). Grandchildren: Malynda Moore (Sean), Trevor May (Ricki), Paige May, Anne May, Mandi May, Seth May (Ashlee), Fern Maramag (Drew), Angie Hand, Justin Hand (Samantha), & Jeromy Hand (Jenna). Great-grandchildren: Max Moore, Emilie & Aurora Woods, Tucker & LilyRay May, Myley & Maycee May, Liam, Jace, & Koen Maramag, Jarek & Jayvin Erickson, and Lydia Hand.

She is preceded in death by her parents Albert & Minnie Ohlmann, her husband Dan May, and her brother Robert Ohlmann.
