Obituary

Regina E. (Roggasch) Brockley was born on November 19, 1937, at home on the family ranch in Rose, NE, to Arthur and Mary (Dunne) Roggasch.  Gina was the third of five children.  Gina joined her husband, Ross, in heaven on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Bickford Cottage in Lincoln, NE with her family at her side.

Gina attended a country school at Duff, NE, through the 8th grade then attended high school at St. Mary's Academy in O'Neill, NE, graduating in 1955.  Gina received her teaching certificate through classes in Ft. Worth, TX and Chadron State College in Chadron, NE.  Gina taught in the rural system for 3 years, 2 years in Cherry County and one in Rock County.

Gina married Ross N. Brockley in Valentine in December of 1958.  To this union 3 children were born:  Mike, Brad, and Lisa.

Gina loved being outside, tending to her flowers and feeding the birds.  She monitored blue bird houses at the Valentine Wildlife Refuge for the Bluebirds Across Nebraska Association.  Gina loved canoeing the Niobrara River and looking for unique rocks.  Ross and Gina took many trips to the Black Hills of South Dakota, staying at their favorite motel in Custer each time.  Gina loved to dance, whether at the Rose Community Hall or the Vet's Club in Valentine.  Gina was a long-time and active member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Gina was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sister Marilyn Crisp and brother-in-law Hal; brother Dennis Roggasch and sister-in-law Eleanor; brother Kenneth; brother-in-law Robert Brockley and sister-in-law Dona; sister-in-law Carroll Brockley; and nephew Jeff Roggasch.

She is survived by her son Mike and friend Deb of Grand Island; son Brad and his wife Kina of Starke, Florida; daughter Lisa and her husband Bruce Spilker of Lincoln.  Grandchildren, Ross Brockley, Jacob Spilker, Josh Johnson, Jake Johnson, Tammy Hauser.  Brother Don and sister-in-law Mary of Rose, NE; brother-in-law George Brockley and sister-in-law Jan of Lincoln, brother-in-law Tom Brockley of Nebraska City; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving caregivers at Bickford Cottage.

Funeral service for Gina Brockley will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2024 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Valentine.  The burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Valentine.   Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 9th at the Church.  Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines with the family present from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was entrusted with service arrangements.

Memorials suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
