Richard Allan Hesse, age 61, born on March 6, 1953 in West Point, NE passed away on June 5, 2014 at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, TX after receiving a heart transplant on May 19, 2014.
Rick is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 37 years, Kimberly Kruger Hesse; four children, sons Greg of Valentine, NE, Jim of Lincoln, NE, Doug (Sharon) Hesse of Valentine, NE, and Joe of Wallace, NE; Grandchildren Haley, Tenley, and Nash; Parents Robert and Marilyn Hesse of Longview, TX; Brother Wayne (Barbara) Hesse of O'Neil, NE; sisters Linda (Larry) Gibbs of Houston, TX and Laura (Randy) Wright of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law June (Ken) Hesse of Gering, NE; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his brothers Larry and Kenneth.
Rick graduated from Chadron State College with a Bachelors Degree in Education and furthered his education at Wayne State College receiving a Masters Degree. Rick spent 33 years in Education, 22 years in Clearwater Public Schools and finishing out his career at Valentine Rural High School. Throughout his career, Rick took on a variety of roles including teaching, counseling, coaching and Activities Director. As a coach and teacher at Clearwater and Valentine, Rick was a part of many successful teams and enjoyed being involved in the lives of many young adults.
Rick loved his family, sports, and fishing. His time was spent following his sons and their endeavors, going to auctions finding treasures, and taking time for his multitude of friends.
A memorial service will be held in Valentine, NE on Saturday, June 14th at 11:00 AM at Valentine High School auditorium followed immediately by a fish fry in the high school commons area. In honor of Rick, fishing attire is fine.
