Robert Duane Brown was born August 12, 1952, in Valentine, NE to Robert William Brown and Frances Irene Adams. He passed away on June 28, 2024, at his home in Valentine.
Bob attended Crookston High School and went on to marry Carolyn June on October 22, 1976 in Pierre, SD. From that union, they were blessed with four children: Kristy, April, Adam, and Sasha.
Bob was a dedicated and hard worker, spending 20 years in construction and another 30 years working for the city of Valentine. During his time with the city, Bob was known as a jack of all trades, certified and proficient in every piece of equipment the city owned. Friends and family jokingly said that Bob was the owner of the golden shovel as he rose higher and higher in his role with the city. Bob was an avid fisherman, when he wasn't working.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Brown, his parents, Robert and Francies Brown, and one sister, Carol Sherwood. Bob is survived by three daughters: Kristy Zierke (Shane) of Royal, NE; April Rice (Jared) of St. Paul, NE; Sasha Brown of Valentine, NE; one son, Adam Brown (Natalie) of Lubbock, TX; nine grandchildren: Gage, Kyle, Sheldon, Sabastion, Haidin, Tripp, Jezlyn, Levi, and Austin. He is also survived by two sisters: Sandy Fernau of Crookston, NE, and Peggy Wellkey of Lincoln, NE; three, brothers: Billy Brown of Gresham, NE, and Patrick Bower of Pensacola, FL and Larry Bower of Fairmont, NE, along with 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
Funeral service for Robert Brown was held on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Valentine Methodist Church in Valentine. The burial followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was entrusted with service arrangements.
