Robert (Bob) Henry Schneider, age 85, of Cody, Nebraska, passed away on April 22 nd , 2020 in Omaha after suffering from complications following knee replacement surgery last fall.
Bob was born in Todd County, South Dakota to Henry and Mae Schneider on January 13 th , 1935. He graduated from Cody High School in 1952. He worked as a ranch hand on local ranches before joining the army in 1956. Even though he was only in the service for 2 years, he developed friendships there that would last a lifetime. He married Shirley Stasch on June 11 th , 1960 in Nenzel, Nebraska. Bob and Shirley enjoyed traveling to regular army reunions throughout the United States starting after he had been out of the service for 30 years. Bob was an excellent problem solver and successful business owner, as demonstrated during his numerous hard-working years for Schneider Auto and Cody Motor Co. Even some of his favorite pastimes included problem solving games such as bridge, cribbage and sudoku.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mae Schneider, and two of his brothers, Jerry and Steve.
Bob is survived by his wife, Shirley, and their six children, Julie (John) Piva, Overgaard, AZ; Marvin (Grace) Schneider, Washington, IL; Phillip (Kim) Schneider, Phoenix, AZ; Rosemary (Scott) Pekarek, Plymouth, MN; Laura (Jaysen) Schock, West Fargo, ND; Audra (Chris) Mollet, Chanhassen, MN; sisters Joan Starr and Pat (Ben) Mellor, brothers Lloyd (Carolyn), Stanley (Rita), and Ron (Lucille), 18 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at Nenzel Cemetery with Father Abraham Kaduthodiyil of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating on April 27th. A small viewing was held prior to the service at the church. Arrangements were made by Sandoz Chapel of the Pines.
Memorials can be sent to the family which will then be given to the Cody-Kilgore school.
