Funeral service for Robert Stoeger Sr. will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Berean Bible Church in Valentine. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery, North of Valentine, NE. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines.

Robert C. Stoeger, Sr.-Born March 8, 1935 to Irene (Omey) and Harvey "Jiggs" Stoeger at Grand Island, Nebraska. He was the oldest of three children and they spent the first four years of his life at Cairo, Nebraska. Then his parents bought a small place 7 miles west of Valentine and the rest of his years were spent in the area. He attended District 25 through 8th grade and then came to town for high school. Bob graduated with the class of 1952.
He married Norma L. Brown in 1955 at Newport, Ne. To this union 6 children were born: Karen (Larry) Gill, Robert, Jr. (Margaret), Gary (Kristi), Mark (Janell), Doug (Rita) and David.
In their early marriage, Bob worked construction. After that, he worked for the City of Valentine for several years and Ohlmann's Building Center for over 25 years. He was an avid archery hunter and taught his sons that to get up an hour before daylight, walk through the woods in the dark, and sit in a tree for several hours in 20 degree temps is not only a perfectly sane thing to do, but is also one of the most enjoyable places to commune with the God of all creation. He enjoyed cooking in his later years and was especially talented at jelly-making, Christmas candies, and popcorn balls.
His parents preceded him in death. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, children, and his grandchildren: Charles, Tenille, Jared, Jamie, Lucas, Lincoln, Calvin, and Preston, as well as step-grandchildren, Tom Benson, Kari (Joe) Conroy, Rob (Melissa) Rowan, and one great step-grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters Gail (Ben) Keeler, and Mary Ann (Neale) Perrett.
Bob joined his Lord and Savior on June 2, 2013.
