Obituary

Robert Lee Witt was born January 18, 1943 in Ainsworth, NE to Walter and Grace (Tays) Witt.

Bob passed away on December 22 nd at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine

Bob graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1961.  After graduation Bob moved to Riverside California where he studied Art.  He later returned to Ainsworth to marry Shelia Alberts of Rural Brown County.

Bob married Shelia Alberts on September 1, 1963 at The United Methodist Church in Ainsworth, NE.  Two children were born out of this union: Broc in 1965 and Dedra in 1967.

Bob started his career in the grocery store as a butcher in Pierce Nebraska before getting hired by Wonder Bread in Norfolk, NE.  In 1972 the couple purchased the Jack and Jill grocery store in Bassett, Nebraska.   He returned to the bread business and moved to Valentine until retirement from Old Home Bread in 2007. He then decided retirement wasn't for him and worked with his brother Walt and many friends at Henderson IGA until he went part time in 2016 and officially retiring in June of 2019.  He loved being around people and often could be found at the local coffee house enjoying a cup of coffee and conversation with the boys.

Bob and Shelia had many hobbies over the years including remodeling houses. (not sure it was his idea but always along the ride with Shelia) They loved camping and fishing with family and friends and often could be found with one of their grandchildren in tow for the adventure. Until Shelia's death in 2015.

One of Bob's greatest joys was his family.  He loved his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.  Bob always had a pencil and paper around and would be sketching pictures. He was usually drawing pictures of horses and windmills.  Bob was blessed with a wonderful and loving heart for everyone.

Bob remarried Elsie Mundorf on March 29, 2019 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Lincoln Nebraska.  She was always right by his side.  They had two great years together and brought each other lots of joy.  They enjoyed having his sister Judy over for an afternoon coffee.

Bob preceded in death by his wife Shelia, his parents, grandparents, brothers Kenny, Walt, Dick and Sisters, Jackie and Shirley.
