IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Harvey
Lancaster
January 17, 1944 – August 6, 2025
Ron was born on January 17, 1944, in Hot Springs, SD to Harvey and Mae (Denton) Lancaster. When he was two years old, the family moved to Custer State Park where his father was a park ranger and his mother a cook at the Game Lodge. The hills behind their house were their playground where Ron spent much of his time growing up playing or exploring with his brother, Gary and his sister, Janice. He attended country school in the park and later high school in Custer. When he was a teen and the movie "How The West Was Won" was being filmed in the park, Ron would ride his horse over every day to watch. Finally, the movie director told him to go to Rapid City and sign up for the Teamster's Union so he could go to work for them. He did that and made $3.03 working for MGM. He was the one of the cast members chasing the buffalo over the hill.
In 1963, Ron joined the Navy and served aboard the destroyer USS Lowry. He was stationed in Jacksonville, FL and served two, six-month tours in the Mediterranean where he saw a lot of beautiful country. Upon his discharge in 1967, he returned to Custer where he met his future wife, Carol. They married April 20, 1968. Ron worked on a ranch at that time.
The family moved around a few times while raising their five children, eventually moving to Arizona for several years. Cody always felt like home to them, so they returned in October of 2023. They enjoyed going for rides on country roads and Ron enjoyed giving his German Shepherd, Sadie, rides in his side by side.
Proceeding Ron in death were his parents, Harvey and Mae Lancaster; grandparents; sister, Janice (Harry) Kooyman; along with two angels; and infant son, Gary.
He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Carol; brother, Gary (Darlene) Lancaster of Lewistown, MT; sons, Wade (Donna) Lancaster of Wittmann, AZ, Clint (Shannon) Lancaster of Surprise, AZ and Saul (Dannie) of Hooper, NE; daughters, Ronelle (Kirk) Barnes of Valentine, NE and Cassie Lancaster of Wittmann, AZ; along with his grandchildren, Angela Stouffer of Gillette, WY, Amy Lancaster of Wittmann, AZ, Wyatt (Briana Drueppel) Barnes of Valentine, NE, Whitney Barnes of Crookston, NE, Taylor (Jay) Rodenburg of Phoenix, AZ, Sam Lancaster of Surprise, AZ, Mayson and Kaden Lancaster of Hooper, NE, Kiara Fedigan of Phoenix, AZ, and Christian Nelms of Wittmann, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ron departed into his heavenly home on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. He accepted the Lord as his savior on March 9, 1972. That was his proudest achievement, and he had the assurance that he would have everlasting life with his Lord and Savior.
Cremation was held and no services will be held. The family will gather at a later date for the spreading of his ashes. Memorial contributions in Ron's name may be made to the Cody Legion Post #319, PO Box 23, Cody, NE 69211.
