Memorial service for Sheri Walkling age 52 of Elkhorn and formally of Valentine will be held on Monday, July 20 at 10:0 AM at the United Methodist Church in Valentine. Burial will be at a later date. No visitation will be held.

Sheri Denise Walkling, age 52, of Elkhorn, NE passed away, July 15 2015, near Johnston NE.

Sheri was born on August 17, 1962 in Valentine NE to Tom and Darlene Heinert and spent her early years on the farm north of Parmelee , SD. She attended Valentine Rural High School and later graduated Mid Plains Community College in North Platte NE as a certified Dental Assistant. On her 22nd birthday she met the love of her life Vance Walkling and they were united in marriage in the Valentine City Park on June 29th 1986. They were blessed with two children a daughter and son.

Sheri was a loving mother and wife but her love extended far beyond her family. She served those who were disabled in both Valentine and Hastings NE and considered her job in the Christian book store a ministry that she loved. In her later years she traveled the country in their fifth wheel supporting her husband's work and shared the love of Jesus through the Walk to Emmaus, Celebrate Recovery, and often leading contemporary worship at her church. She enjoyed taking care of her many flowers and house plants, creating jewelry with her collection of beads, and spoiling her two grandchildren. Her family was the most important thing to her and she loved them with her whole heart and soul.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Vance; daughter Brandi (Chad) Bennett and their children Isaiah and Isaac; son, Branden; father Thomas Heinert; sisters LeAnn (Matt) Schubauer and Melinda (Jim) Otto; brothers John (Rosie) Heinert and Dean (Bonnie) Heinert. She was preceded in death by her mother, Darlene Heinert.
