Shirley Ann May Bachelor was born on December 25, 1934 to Lyle and Lucille Hangle May in Council Bluffs, IA. She passed away on February 21, 2017 at Pine View Good Samaritan Center in Valentine at the age of 82.
Shirley graduated from Valentine High School and was an avid reader. For most of her adult life, Shirley was a licensed caterer and operated a bed and breakfast. Shirley loved having large family gatherings and spending holidays with her grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ellen Crow. She is survived by her children, Chuck Bennett of Colorado, Bob Bennett of Valentine, Ken Bennett of Valentine, Rick Bennett of Valentine and Randy Bennett of Lincoln. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Memorial service for Shirley Bachelor will be held on Saturday, March 18 at 1:00 PM at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines. Inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Reception to follow memorial service at the Valentine Senior Center at 322 N. Macomb St.
