Sylvia Ann Garwood age 61 passed away July 9, 2015 at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine, Ne. She was born on September 22, 1953 in Freeman, SD to Valentine and Ottilia (Frank) Mandel.
Sylvia is survived by her husband Steven Garwood, their three children Jeffrey (Michelle) Garwood of Valentine, Ne, Matthew Garwood (Katie Luthy) of Valentine, Ne, Nichole Garwood (Patrick Brinda) of Valentine, Ne, and four grandchildren Jenalee, Jaeden, Kaden, and Kyra. She is also survived by three sisters Shirley Mandel of Mitchell, SD, Sally Wise of Mitchell, SD, Sandy (Rodger) Smith of Tea, SD, and brother-in-law Chuck Summers of Mitchell, Sd.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents Valentine and Ottilia Mandel, one sister Syneva Summers, Brother- in -law Lorry Wise, Father- in - law Dick Garwood, and a Great Niece Sara Claggett.
Sylvia Ann Garwood graduated from Mitchell High School in 1971. She worked at the Methodist Hospital in Mitchell, SD for many years. On October 26, 1979 she married Steven Paul Garwood at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell, SD. They then moved to Valentine, Ne where they lived on a farm south of town. She gave birth to three children Jeffrey (1981), Matthew (1983), and Nichole (1984). Sylvia and her family also lived in Nenzel and Cody before moving back to Valentine in 1991. In 2002 Sylvia got her Medication Aide License and began working at Cherry Hills Estates in Valentine, Ne. She continued to work at Cherry Hills till she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in September of 2014. She spent the remainder of her life enjoying her time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Services for Sylvia Ann Garwood will be held Tuesday July 14, 2015 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Valentine, Ne, burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine, Ne. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines were in charge of funeral arrangements.
