Obituary

Ted J. Ormesher was born in Valentine, Nebraska, January 23, 1945 and departed this life March 7, 2015 at his home on Wedgewood Lake, Lincoln Nebraska, suffering from acute leukemia diagnosed February 20, 2015.
Ted attended Valentine High School and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with an emphasis in Accounting with High Distinction in 1967. He passed all five parts of the National Board of Accounting Tests in his first sitting May 1967 – a rare accomplishment. He also received an MBA from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico in 1969 while serving as Assistant Officer in Charge of the Isabella Naval Communications Station during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge from the Navy he worked at Coopers & Lybrand of Omaha (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) to gain the two years experience and complete his Certified Public Accountant certificate. In 1998 Ted was accredited as a Certified Valuation Analyst by the National Association of Certified Valuators & Analysts and certified as a Business Valuation Analyst by the AICPA due to his business expertise. He was also qualified as an expert witness in business valuation and litigation. He was considered to be one of the state's experts in gift and estate taxes.
December 1, 1971 Ted started his accounting practice in conjunction with William Cumbow in Valentine, moving to his own office at 234 N. Cherry a few years later. He developed it into the largest sole proprietorship accounting firm in Nebraska. Ted was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church and served as a Director on the Boards of District #1 Schools, First National Bank of Valentine, Cherry County Hospital, and Chairman of the Board of the Association of Research and Enlightenment, an international non-profit organization. Events in 1991 led him to reevaluate his efforts and conclude that the best service was given on an individual basis. He withdrew from boards and committees and instead dedicated his many talents solely to the welfare of his clients, whom he felt were his family. His honesty, integrity, and endeavors on their behalf never waivered. Ted was a member of the AICPA, ABV, Nebraska Society of CPAs, NACVA, American Legion, and Wood Lake Masonic Lodge. He leaves in mourning his wife of 48 years, Susan, and their children Jill of Lincoln, Nebraska, Charles of Denver, Colorado, and John of Concord, North Carolina.
