Walter Raymond Carstens was born June 17th 1947 in Valentine. He was the fourth child born to Herman and Wren Ward Carstens. Walt passed away at his home on August 2, 2022 at the age of 75.

Walt attended school in Valentine. He enlisted in the Navy February 26, 1965 and served his country until his honorable discharge on June 13,1968. He later married Deborah L. Reese on May 14th 1971 in Pensacola Florida. To this Union two children were born. He spent most of his career as a painter, which he really enjoyed. Walt loved hunting and fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and baking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Martha Horst and Mildred Beman. He is survived by his son Kenneth of Crookston and daughter Tammy Watson of Kearney, NE. Also surviving 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brother Marvin of Souix Falls, SD and sister Katherine Hobden of Denver, CO. Walt will be deeply missed.

Funeral service for Walt Carstens, age 75 of Crookston will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Valentine.  Burial will follow at Mt. Hope in Valentine.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, Aug. 9 ^th at 5:00 PM at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines.  Mr. Carstens passed away on Aug. 2 at his home in Crookston.
