Wanda June Huebner (Thomas) was born June 17, 1934 to the proud parents Thelma Thomas (Overman) and Edward Thomas at Crookston, NE.   She had 3 brothers – Edward, Dennis and Jessee Thomas.   Wanda attended Crookston Public School and graduated Crookston High School.

On November 24, 1955 she was united in marriage to Ralph R. Huebner at Zion Lutheran Church, Crookston, NE.  They made their home at the German Settlement near Crookston.  They were blessed with five girls- Rebecca , Alice, Joanne, Marcia and Beth.   In 1963 they moved to a ranch near Clarks, NE where the three youngest girls were born.  In 1974 they moved their family to Elba where they lived until retiring in 1993 and moving to Wood Lake, Nebraska.

Wanda was a wife, mother, homemaker and caregiver.  She cared for her brother Jessee and for her husband Ralph when his health declined.  She was also a CSM,  Dietician.  Wanda was a member of Howard County Extension Club an Honorary Alum of Elba FFA and a member of Wood Lake Union Church.  She enjoyed crocheting, painting and needle-work but her greatest joy was her family.

Wanda passed away December 3, 2019 at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln, NE at age 85.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph R. Huebner, parents Thelma & Edward Thomas,  brother Jessee Thomas ,  two grandsons Anthony Umphress & Robert Stenka and two  son-in-law's , Michael Umphress, and Ethan Kleier .  She is survived by daughters Rebecca (Raymond) Wright, Alice (Mike) Stenka  both of Ewing, NE, Joanne (Tim) Briscoe of Palmer, NE, Marcia (Jim)  Wood  of Clearwater NE., and Beth (John) Wood  of Coleridge, brothers Edward  (Carol) Thomas and Dennis (Patti) Thomas.   Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, 1 niece and 5 nephews.

Funeral service for Wanda Huebner was held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Wood Lake Union Church.  Interment followed the service at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine.  Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was entrusted with funeral arrangements.
