Wendell Leeper, 72, of Valentine Nebraska died Friday February 24th in Broken Bow Nebraska.
He was born April 18, 1944 in Gordon Nebraska to William and Lola Leeper. He attended school in Merriman Nebraska where he graduated from in 1962. Wendell worked for numerous ranchers in the area and spent his free time hunting and fishing all throughout the Sandhills of western Nebraska.
Wendell joined the service in 1964 where he was relocated to Germany. In 1966 he was given the rank of Sergeant and served out his overseas duty until returning to the states in July of 1967. He was placed in Army Reserve until August 6, 1970 when he was then honorably discharged.
Wendell married Linda Ann Messenger of Gordon on May 4, 1968. They lived in Merriman Nebraska where Wendell worked for the Cherry County road department until January of 1969 when they relocated to Wyoming to work in the uranium mines. They later returned to Nebraska where they made Gordon their home and raised a family.
Wendell is preceded in death by his father and mother, William (Everett) and Lola Leeper.
Wendell is survived by his spouse Linda Leeper. His son Wade Leeper and spouse Sterling. Son Corby Leeper and extended family Nickie Leeper. Grandkids Sami, Bryant, Maddox, and Kannon Leeper. Sisters, Bertha Johnson and Berdella Hicks.
Graveside service for Wendell Leeper age 72 of Valentine will be held on Saturday, March 4 at 11:00 AM MT at the Gordon Cemetery in Gordon. Mr. Leeper passed away on Feb. 24 in Broken Bow, NE.
