Wendy Elaine Way was born on November 15, 1970, in Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County, Michigan to Claudia Jean Syrell and Alburn Phillip Way.  She passed away on November 8, 2025, at her home in Valentine, NE at the age of 54.

Wendy attended school and graduated college with a master's degree in political science and mental health counseling.  She married Boyd Schmidt on February 14, 2002, in Valentine, NE.

While Wendy lived in Valentine, she worked at Oakwood Assisted Living as a Certified Med Aid and later work at McDonald's.  She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cooking, reading books and gardening.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Miki Romsdahl.  Wendy is survived by her husband, Boyd Schmidt, children, Lauren Way and Forrest Schmidt.  She is also survived by one sister, Dawn Sanders Godeke.

Memorial service for Wendy Way will be held at a later date in Valentine.  Sandoz Chapel of the Pines is entrusted with service arrangements.
